“That night… when I saw your shoulder… the birthmark… I knew.”
Tears filled my eyes.
“You… you knew… and you still married me?”
She collapsed to her knees.
“I didn’t want to believe it!” she cried. “I told myself I was wrong. That it was just a coincidence. That I was crazy…”
I stood up, stepping back.
“But deep down…” she whispered, “I knew the truth.”
The silence between us was unbearable.
“You’re… my son?” I said, barely able to speak.
She nodded slowly, completely shattered.
Something inside me broke in that moment.
All the memories… the love… the moments we shared… twisted into something dark and unbearable.
“I loved you…” I said.
“I love you,” she replied instantly, through tears.
I shook my head, stepping further away.
“No… this… this is wrong.”
