“You just threatened a senior officer,” I said calmly. “And you’re obstructing medical care for a child.”

His confidence collapsed.

Behind him, Lisa scoffed. “Dad, what are you doing? Arrest her!”

He turned, panic in his eyes. “Be quiet!”

Then he faced me again—shaking.
