According to the Shreveport Times, authorities revealed that the violence began with the children’s mother. Shreveport Police Department Corporal and spokesperson Chris Bordelon said Shamar allegedly shot the mother first before killing eight children — seven of whom were his own — in what investigators believe was a domestic incident.
The victims ranged in age from about 1 to 12 years old, and two women — one believed to be his wife — were left in critical condition. While the motive remains unclear, Bordelon said detectives are confident the case was “entirely a domestic incident.”
