The DA also described the case in stark terms, adding: “This horrific and gruesome murder committed by the charged sexual predator is shocking and appalling. To Celeste’s loved ones, we will get the justice you seek and deserve.”
But key details in the complaint begin to outline how authorities say it unfolded.

According to LACDAO, the complaint includes special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, financial gain, and lying in wait, along with an allegation that d4vd used a deadly and dangerous weapon, described as a sharp instrument.
Authorities say the case traces back to April 23, 2025, when the teen went to d4vd’s Hollywood Hills home and was not seen again. Months later, on September 8, 2025, her remains were found in the front trunk of a car registered to him after it had been impounded.
Those allegations now form the basis of charges that could carry severe penalties.

If convicted, d4vd could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty, though prosecutors have not yet decided whether to pursue capital punishment.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman of the Major Crimes Division and remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
But as prosecutors continue to outline their arguments, d4vd’s legal team is pushing back with a very different version of events.
